All carriers will be rough with packages, considering 90% of the time they're handled by conveyors and package sorting machines of one type or another. That is why they must be packaged sufficiently. A good rule of thumb to go by is whther or not it will survive a 4 ft drop. If it will, it should survive shipping. If not, then it wont. If an item is packaged in accordance with the UPS or FedEx requirements (which are available at their websites), and all documentation is correct and complete, claims are not that difficult. Most people who have claims denied are lacking in one of these requirements. With USPS, even if you insure it the chances of getting a claim approved out of them is like pulling teeth out of a rabid pit bull.
